Gran Canaria

Getting out and seeing other parts of Gran Canaria we think is a must. There are some great beaches, natural and man made with all the facilities you might want. Below the resort is a cliff top promenade walk – head west and you will find Amadores Beach, a man made beach with restaurants and bars backing on to it. Head east and you will reach the town of Puerto Rico with its beach and marina. Puerto Rico has numerous shops, restaurants and bars and if you want late nights out, many nightclubs. Which ever direction you choose both Amadores and Puerto Rico are only about a 10 minute walk from the resort. Only a 15 minute taxi ride from Bahia Blanca is perhaps the most famous beach on Gran Canaria. Maspalomas has a large natural area of sand dunes which lead down to the sea. To see some of the local life of Gran Canaria, head to either Puerto Mogan or Arguiniguin, these are both attractive fishing towns where you can see the daily catch being unloaded. Wander around the marina and you will find shops and restaurant’s serving local seafood. Both have a weekly market and to reach either town you can take a taxi from Bahia Blanca or the regular boat service from Puerto Rico.

If you want to explore further, hire a car and visit the interior of the island. The interior is very different than the coast, with parts that are mountainous with lush green valleys, pine forests and lakes. Visit the rugged North West coastline of cliffs and coves and see Atlantic rollers coming in, perhaps catching surfers riding the waves. The capital Las Palmas is worth a visit to see the attractive old city centre and its medieval cathedral. For the trendy side of Las Palmas visit the marina, expensive yachts to dream about and ultra modern bars and restaurants where you can enjoy people watching over a long cool drink.

Reception will be only too happy to give you further information and suggest all the excursions that are possible.
